Eastside's Cellphone Policy

Because we want our students focused on learning and not their phones, cellphones will be collected at the beginning of the day and returned at the end of the day. Teachers will secure the phones away from students in a safe place.

We need students to focus at school and the cellphones have become a huge distraction. As always, you can call the office and relay a message to your student and students are permitted to call home when needed from either the classroom or office phones. If students come in late, after collection, they will be expected to submit their cell phone to their teacher for safe keeping as other students have done.  If a student withholds their phone deliberately, discipline  related to 'not following rules' will be enacted. We appreciate your support of our new policy and understand our 'digital age' challenges. Thank you.

Eastside Dress Code

We have a dress code at Eastside.  It is important that both parents and students become familiar with the updated version.  You can view the dress code by clicking on "School" on our home page and than clicking "Dress Code".  All students will have a paper copy to bring home and have signed by a parent or guardian. The signed bottom portion of that document should be returned to the student's homeroom teacher. A copy of the dress code was also emailed to parents through School Loop.  We thank you for understanding that we expect our students to dress for the educational environment that we provide here at Eastside.

8th Grade Promotion Requirements

Requirements for Participation in the Promotion Ceremony

Students who do not meet the minimum requirements for participation will not be permitted on stage the evening of June 8th. However, they are welcomed to be in the audience during the ceremony provided they are in the company of a parent/guardian. Students may also be in the group picture which will be taken at 5:00 p.m. the night of promotion, and may take part in the reception following the ceremony.

The reasons for non-participation are noted below:

*The student did not achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) with ability level taken into consideration.

*The student has an F in the last trimester.

*The student has not completed all 15 hours of Community Service.

*The student has not completed all Field Study Day Reports.

*The student does not have an attendance rate of 85% which includes early outs, tardies, and all absences.

*The student is on a Level 3 Behavior Plan.

School and Community Events

We are very excited about the addition of more community events this year.  In addition to the Eastside Ice Cream Social, we are also looking forward to events like Game Night, Movie Night, Bingo Night, and Read a Book Night.  Please watch for emails and posts on the website for upcoming events.

If you have questions about community events, please contact Mrs. Juarros.

Community Service

There are many ways to earn your community service hours; helping a teacher after school, working at a community event, or participating in the school-wide event that Mr. Prior plans for each trimester. It is suggested that you write down your hours as you do them so you don't forget all the things that you did.

If you have any questions concerning community service, please contact Mr. Prior.

Things to Remember

Eastside Bulldog T-Shirts are Here:  We have plenty of adult sized t-shirts in small, medium, large, and extra-large for $10 each.  You can buy a shirt during school hours from Mrs. Juarros in room 27.  Please have exact change or a check made out to TRUSD.  Show your school pride by wearing your BULLDOG shirt!

Eastside Dance Information

The dances at Eastside are a lot of fun for our students, but they do require a lot of planning and work.  We depend on our parents for much of the planning, setting up, food, chaperoning, and cleaning up.  Parents earn parent hours for all of their work.  There are three dances each year.  If you have any questions or want to help with dances, please see Mrs. Juarros.
